Who doesn’t love My Little Pony? I mean really, who?
I publicly admit that I have a brony in my house! Mister Giggles (7) loves the ponies so much that his 6th birthday party was My Little Pony. There’s no reason to be ashamed, those ponies are pretty cool and the bright colors keep his attention.
I knew Mister Giggles would love this app, I didn’t know that Miss Dreamer (10) and Mister Man (8) would as well. I was surprised since both are reading very well and this app is a story designed for preschoolers. Still, they both really enjoyed it and I enjoyed listening to their giggles.
From the publisher’s website:

Pinkie Pie is throwing a party, and we all know that she throws the best parties! Fresh after hosting the event of the year, Pinkie Pie begins to plan the next party. Strangely, none of Pinky Pie’s friends can come to the party, and they don’t have very good excuses! I won’t tell you what happens, you’ll have to get the app and find out for yourself!
My Little Pony: Party of One is an interactive story app based on one of the more popular episodes of My Little Pony. Each page of the story is full of characters that your child clicks on to activate and interact with. The app will read the story to your child while they follow along, or your child can chose to read the story themselves.
Throughout the story the readers can learn new words by clicking on them, and practice sight words at the very end of the story with a flash card-like activity.
There is a parent’s area where parents can track their child’s progress through the various activities.
All of your favorite ponies are here, including the original voice of Pinky Pie! And yes, my children noticed that it was the original voice actor!
In addition to the superior quality of this app, I feel safe with the content from Play Date Digital. Play Date Digital apps are child-friendly, won’t destroy my phone, and most importantly there is no opportunity for my children to purchase in-app bonuses and content.
My children’s only complaint is that there is only one story in the app. While I did enjoy reviewing this app I’m not sure that I would pay $2.99 for access to one digital story. For comparison, my son has a child’s tablet computer and the interactive stories available for purchase on it are $5.99 but come with 1 interactive story, 2 regular stories, and 2 related games.
